James Anderson attended Burnley’s St. Mary’s and St. Theodore’s RC High School. From a young age, he was a member of the Burnley Cricket Club. Anderson’s passion since he was a little child was to play cricket, and at the age of 17, following a growth spurt, he was one of the Lancashire League’s fastest bowlers.
James Anderson received the Freedom of the Borough of Burnley award on December 8, 2011. Anderson became an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his “services to cricket” in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
