Jacques Haitkin Death: How did Jacques Haitkin die?

American cinematographer, Jacques Haitkin, known for his work on  Nightmare on Elm Street horror films, and other Marvel action-superhero movies, has been reported dead by his family.

He died on March 21, 2023, after over 5 years of being diagnosed with ALS – also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He died of ALS and pneumonia. He was 72 years old at the time of death, according to his family.

As a Director of Photographer/Cinematographer, Haitkin worked on A Nightmare on Elm Street, which was directed by Wes Craven. He also worked in that role on several movies including Galaxy of Terror, The House Where Evil Dwells, Ticks, The Silence of the Hams, Bloodsport, The Forgotten, Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence, and more.

Many people on social media have expressed their condolences after the news of his death.

RIP Jacques Haitkin. He gave A Nightmare on Elm Street a very effective visual look. The lighting and shadows were simply perfect. Especially evoking the dreamlike nature of the film. He will be missed,” M. Brant.
