Jacob Weitering earns around $400,000 a season at the minimum.

That figure can increase significantly based on his performance, with clauses including games played and where he finishes in the club’s best and fairest.
In 2015, Jacob Weitering was earning a base salary of $74,740 as the number one draft pick in his first season of the mandatory two-year contract for draftees.
It’s unheard of for a player to be talked about for the next four years, let alone to be offered a contract of that length.

For Weitering, some months ago, he was viewed as the best youngster in the country, it represents a clear belief that Carlton, through Brendon Bolton, is on the right track towards a successful future.
Many football insiders think Weitering could become one of the star key-position players in the competition over the next five years; so locking him into a specially formulated, performance-based deal makes sense, rather than to pay more annually on a shorter-term deal.
The fact that Weitering is viewed as low-risk behaviourally and that he has already shown leadership qualities made the decision even easier for the Blues.
