Jaap Stam, a renowned Dutch former footballer and coach, is recognized as one of the finest defenders of his generation.
Stam’s illustrious playing career included spells with FC Zwolle, SC Cambuur, Willem II, PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lazio, Milan, and Ajax.

His defensive prowess was acknowledged with numerous club trophies and individual honors. Stam was voted the best defender in the UEFA Champions League for the 1998–99 and 1999–2000 seasons, highlighting his exceptional performances at the highest European level.

He also secured a place in three consecutive PFA Team of the Year sides from 1999 to 2001.
Representing the Netherlands internationally, Stam earned 67 caps and scored three goals, participating in three UEFA European Championships and the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
After retiring in October 2007, Stam transitioned seamlessly into coaching, starting with PEC Zwolle and Ajax.
His managerial journey led him to Reading in 2016 and later Feyenoord in 2019. Stam also made a mark in Major League Soccer, managing FC Cincinnati from 2020 to 2021.
