On May 8, 16 countries participated in the semi-final of the international competition, showcasing their songs to a crowd of fans in Sweden.
Although the winner of the contest is determined by television viewers during the final performance, juries also vote during the Jury Show to ensure a result in case there are issues with voting during the finals.

One user on X described the atmosphere in the venue as “horrible” and mentioned feeling the tension in the air, while others shared videos of the loudly booing crowd.
This incident follows widespread criticism of Israel’s participation in the competition, especially due to the country’s ongoing conflicts with Palestinians in Gaza.
The conflict with Hamas has resulted in the deaths of over 35,000 people in Palestine, with a further 77,000 individuals injured in Gaza, as reported by Al Jazeera.
Despite calls for a lasting ceasefire, many have expressed disagreement with the European Broadcasting Union’s decision to allow Israel to compete in the song contest.
