The NBA’s Phoenix Suns have signed American-Ugandan basketball player Ishmail Carzell Wainright, also known as Ish Wainright, to a two-way contract.

On September 3, 2018, Wainright signed a contract with the German basketball team Nürnberg Falcons BC after being undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft. After a season, he signed with Rasta Vechta of Germany on July 2, 2019, where he scored an average of 10.5 points per contest.

He also secured a contract with French company SIG Strasbourg in 2020. Ish achieved his NBA ambition on August 8, 2021, when he signed a two-year non-guaranteed contract with the Raptors after competing for basketball clubs in Germany and France. Wainright re-signed a two-way contract with the Suns for the 2022–23 campaign on August 4, 2022.
