Ish Wainright is a professional basketball player in the NBA who holds dual citizenship with the United States and Uganda. He played college basketball for the Baylor Bears and was a tight end in football. Wainright is the grandson of retired NBA player Maurice King. Uganda’s international spokesperson is Wainright. He made his national team debut in November 2020 with 36 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Cape Verde. At AfroBasket 2021, he participated on the team.

Wainright joined the NFL’s Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent, however he was removed from the starting lineup. Wainright signed a contract with Nürnberg Falcons BC on September 3, 2018, to resume his basketball career.
