Will Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, days after he slapped comedian, Chris Rock at the annual Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles.

In a statement issued by will, he said he would accept any further consequences that the group’s board of governors may deem appropriate. The Academy also said that it has accepted Will’s resignation and that it would continue its disciplinary proceedings against him.

However, it has been reported that Will Smith will seek expert help to deal with stress at a celebrity rehab clinic. Everything that happened at the Oscars and the aftermath of the moment had such repercussions that, as reported by The Sun, the actor will spend some time in a rehabilitation clinic.

“The impact of the backlash has hit Will hard, so he will be getting help on dealing with stress”, the paper explained.
