Who Is Wanindu Hasaranga?

Wanindu Hasaranga is a bowling cricketer from Sri Lanka, who competes for the Sri Lanka cricket team in white ball matches.

Wanindu began his cricket career as a student at Richmond College in Galle.

In 2016, he participated in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh, representing the Sri Lankan under-19 cricket team.

In July 2017, the right-handed leg spinner made his debut for Sri Lanka.

Hasaranga was absorbed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2022 IPL Auction. The following year, the Manchester Originals acquired him for the 2022 English season of The Hundred.

He was acquired by the Kandy Falcons in July 2022 for the third Lanka Premier League season.

Wanindu Hasaranga was named to the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year and the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year in the annual ICC Awards in January 2022.

Hasaranga produced match-winning all-around efforts against Bangladesh and Pakistan at the 2022 Asia Cup, capturing 3 wickets for 21 runs.

Wanindu is the second player, after West Indian Carlos Brathwaite, to record 30-plus runs and three-plus wickets.
