Is U2 in the rock n Roll Hall of Fame?

U2 is a Dublin-based Irish rock band that formed in 1976. U2 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, their first year of eligibility.

Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. make up the band. U2’s musical style, which began in post-punk, has evolved throughout their career while maintaining an anthemic quality built on Bono’s expressive vocals and the Edge’s chiming, effects-based guitar sounds.

Bono’s lyrics, which are frequently embellished with spiritual imagery, address personal and sociopolitical issues. The group, known for their live performances, has staged several ambitious and elaborate tours throughout their career.

U2 has 14 studio albums to their credit and is one of the world’s best-selling musicians, having sold an estimated 150-170 million records worldwide.

They have received 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band, and  U2 was ranked number 22 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”

They have campaigned for human rights and social justice causes as a band and as individuals throughout their career, including Amnesty International, Jubilee 2000, the ONE/DATA campaigns, Product Red, War Child, and Music Rising.
