“It’s always difficult, especially a guy like that’s a leader who’s coming off an entire year of rehabilitation,” head coach Sean Payton said after Patrick was carted off the field during training camp.
Patrick collapsed to the ground in agony as he exited his cut on a short route during a seven-on-seven passing drill. As teammates like Courtland Sutton and Russell Wilson hurried to his side, he chucked his helmet.

He was taken off the pitch and walked inside the training camp building on crutches to be assessed. Patrick tore his right ACL during training camp last year, causing him to miss the entire season.
The University of Utah alum went undrafted in 2017 and joined the Broncos after spending time on the practise squads of the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. After two strong seasons, he signed a three-year, $34.5 million contract extension in November 2021.
