Who Is Tim Cook?

Tim Cook is the current chief executive officer of Apple and a former chief operating officer of Apple during the tenure of its co-founder Steve Jobs.

Born on November 1, 1960, in Alabama, United States, Cook graduated from Auburn University where he studied Industrial Engineering as his first degree, and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he obtained his MBA.

Cook joined Apple in March 1998 and served in various capacities including senior vice president for worldwide operations, executive vice president for worldwide sales and operations, under late Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Cook became Apple’s CEO in 2011, following Jobs’ resignation, and later, his death.

Since 2011, Apple has recorded tremendous profit under Cook’s leadership, with a market value increase from $348 billion to $1.9 trillion.

Aside from Apple, Cook also serves on the boards of directors of Nike, Inc., the NFF, and a trustee of Duke University.

Cook is a well-known philanthropist and a foremost advocate for “political reformation of international and domestic surveillance, cybersecurity, American manufacturing, and environmental preservation.”

In 2021, Times Magazine named him amongst the 100 most influential people in the world.
