Is Thibaut Courtois The Best Goalkeeper In The World?

Thibaut Courtois is debatably the best goalkeeper in the world. He was awarded the Yashin Trophy as the top-performing goalkeeper in 2022 by France at the Ballon d’Or ceremony held at Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet.

For the second time in his career, Thibaut Courtois has won IFFHS’s Men’s World Best Goalkeeper award. Courtois has since earned over 100 caps, ranking sixth-highest for appearances, while he has appeared in five major tournaments.

Thibaut Courtois has won the Ricardo Zamora Trophy three times, the Premier League Golden Glove once, and was named the third-best goalkeeper of the decade (2011–2020) by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).

While with Atlético Madrid, Thibaut Courtois won a La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, the Europa League, and reached the UEFA Champions League final.

Thibaut Courtois made his senior international debut for Belgium in 2011 at age 19, becoming their youngest senior international goalkeeper.

At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Thibaut Courtois won the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper as he helped Belgium finish third, their highest-ever finish at the competition.
