Is there romance in The Duke of Death and His Maid?

The Duke of Death and His Maid is a Japanese romantic comedy manga series written and illustrated by Koharu Inoue.

J.C.Staff’s anime television series adaptation aired from July to September 2021. A second season will premiere in 2023.

The supernatural romantic comedy depicts the day-to-day interactions between the cursed Duke and his maid, Alice.

The Duke’s mother exiles him to a remote family estate where he is only cared for by his butler, Rob, and his maid, Alice.

The latter is the daughter of a maid who used to serve his family and the Duke’s only childhood friend who did not abandon him when he was cursed.

Because the Duke had been kind to her when other children bullied her because of her social status, she was devoted to him no matter what.

But Alice no longer considers the Duke to be a friend. As she grows older, she realises she has romantic feelings for him, which she expresses through endless teasing.
