Is Stipe Miocic a volunteer firefighter?

Stipe Miocic is a well-known mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Along with being a professional MMA fighter, Stipe Miocic also works full-time as a Firefighter Paramedic in Oakwood and Valley View, Ohio.

Stipe Miocic began volunteering as a firefighter in 2010, long before he became a UFC champion. Stipe Miocic was sworn in as a full-time firefighter for the city of Westlake in February 2022.

According to local US outlet Cleveland19, Miocic was put through several rounds of testing before being sworn into the Westlake Fire Department in the state of Ohio. “This is a historic day for the city of Westlake,” said city mayor Dennis M. Clough.

When Joe Rogan asked why he still works as a firefighter despite being a UFC champion, he stated that he needs something to fall back on once his fighting career is over.

He has stated that being a firefighter keeps him grounded and reminds him of the importance of serving others.
