Is Scott Caan the son of James?

Scott Caan is the son of actor James Caan and actress and former model Sheila Marie Ryan. His paternal grandparents were German Jewish immigrants. He has a half-sister who is older and three younger half-brothers.

Scott Caan and his father James shared a bond that endured life’s ups and downs. Scot told People magazine in 2010 that “to say our relationship wasn’t dysfunctional would be a lie.”

James, who had previously admitted to battling drug addiction, added at the time, “He noticed me when I was a little rough around the edges.” “We’re best friends. I’m proud of him for growing up so well.”

“My father is a good example of someone who digs into life and says, ‘Yeah, that ripped my heart out, but I’m going to try again,’” Scott explained at the time, adding that “his family was more important” than his work.

Scott added to PEOPLE that he had “no resentment” toward his dad. “He made mistakes that affected him and me  but he’s always been there for me no matter what.”

Scott and his father James, co-starred in the rebooted “Hawaii Five-0” series. He also penned the screenplay for Mercy, a movie he co-starred in with his dad.
