Known locally as 3D, Robert gained initial recognition as a graffiti artist in Bristol before venturing into the world of music with Massive Attack.
The parallel between Robert Del Naja and Banksy arises from their shared roots in Bristol and the pioneering use of the stencil style, a technique they both employed in their early graffiti work. Despite persistent rumors and theories, both Robert Del Naja and Banksy have consistently denied any direct connection between them. Robert, addressing the ongoing speculation, dismissed the idea of being Banksy in an interview with the Daily Mail.
He clarified, “It would be a good story but sadly not true. Wishful thinking, I think. He is a mate as well […] He’s been to some of the gigs. It’s purely a matter of logistics and coincidence, nothing more than that.”
Banksy, too, has refuted any links to Robert Del Naja. The mysterious artist, known for his politically charged and thought-provoking works, continues to maintain his anonymity while simultaneously acknowledging the influence of artists like Del Naja.
