Riverdance is a stage show that features traditional Irish step-dancing, as well as other forms of dance such as tap and flamenco.

The Riverdance show is a combination of traditional and modern elements and often includes live music, singing and colourful costumes.

Riverdance is a real show that has been performed on stage since 1994. The dancing style of Riverdance is primarily Irish step-dancing but also includes tap and flamenco dance styles. It is not considered a Clogging show.

With a score composed by Bill Whelan, Riverdance originated as an interval act during the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, featuring Irish dancing champions Jean Butler, Michael Flatley and the vocal ensemble Anúna.

The act was called ‘Timedance’, which was a three-sectioned piece featuring traditional Baroque-influenced music and ballet dancing. Shortly afterwards, husband and wife production team John McColgan and Moya Doherty expanded it.

Since its debut, the show has been performed in over 450 venues around the globe, and has been witnessed by over 25 million people, making it one of the most successful dance productions in the world.
