Richard Bryan Pelzer was a public speaker, memoirist, and novelist from the United States. He wrote A Brother’s Journey and its sequel, A Teenager’s Journey.

Pelzer was the fourth of Stephen Pelzer and Catherine Roerva’s five sons. In 2015, he earned a bachelor’s degree in child and adolescent development from Southern New Hampshire University.

He was divorced and the father of four children.

Cathrine Roevera Pelzer was never charged with anything. As the authorities took David away, his brother Richard quickly took his place as the beaten son.

Richard was never taken from his mother, but he survived the violence for ten years until he moved out of his mother’s house and in with friends.

Their mother died of a heart attack or heart failure in the late 1980s or early 1990s, I don’t have the books in front of me to give a more accurate time, but when she died one of the boys, the youngest Kevin was still living at her house.

She passed away in 1992.
