Ray Guy was an American professional football punter who played in the National Football League. Guy, an eight-time NFL All-Pro, is widely regarded as the greatest punter of all time.

Ray Guy led the league in punting three times, indicating that he had the highest gross average. His best single-season average (45.3) came during his rookie season in 1973.

The longest punt in his career was 74 yards. Guy appeared in 207 games, punted 44,493 yards, and averaged 42.4 yards. He was named to three first-team All-Pro teams.

Guy averaged 32.6, 42.0, and 42.7 punts per game in Super Bowls XI, XV, and XVIII, for a career Super Bowl average of 39.1. Six of his Super Bowl punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, and his longest was 53 yards.

Guy was the first punter selected in the first round after graduating from college in 1973. His legacy at the University of Southern Mississippi will go down in history.

Guy was an All-American as a defensive back and a standout field goal kicker as an undergrad.
