Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, died on September 8 2022.

The queen’s body is currently on display in a closed coffin at Westminster Hall, the Houses of Parliament’s oldest building.

Her coffin is displayed on a raised platform, draped in the Royal Standard and topped with the Imperial State Crown, orb, and sceptre, and guarded by members of the Royal Guard.

The building will be open 24 hours a day until 6:30 a.m. British time on Monday, September 19 so that members of the public can pay their respects.

The funeral for Queen Elizabeth II will begin on Monday, September 19, at 11 a.m. in the United Kingdom and 6 a.m. on the United States East Coast.

The ceremony will be held at Westminster Abbey, where the queen married Prince Philip in 1947 and was crowned in 1953.

The ceremony on Monday will be the first monarch’s funeral held at Westminster Abbey since the 18th century.
