Since her marriage, Princess Eugenie has been styled “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank” in the Court Circular.

As a male-line grandchild of the sovereign, Eugenie was known as “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York”, with the territorial designation coming from her father’s title, Duke of York.

Why is Eugenie a Princess?

This is because when a member of the royal family has a child, the rules say that only the father may pass on his title, and the only princes and princesses in the family have fathers in the direct line of succession.

Princess Eugenie Is One of the Few Royals With a Real Non-Royal Job. Unlike her cousins, Princess Eugenie has never been a “working royal.”

This means she doesn’t get paid by the Sovereign Grant (a taxpayer-funded pool of money that covers royal salaries) to show up at engagements.
