Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala Omurwa competes in the 60, 100, and 200-meter distances. With victories in the 100 m at the Commonwealth Games and the African Championships in Athletics in 2022, he claimed his first international titles.

In 2015, Omanyala began his athletics career in Kenya as a chemistry student at the University of Nairobi. He took this action when a rugby opponent saw his quickness.
In June 2022, Omanyala became the African 100m champion before being eliminated in the semi-finals of the World Championships held in Eugene, Oregon in July due to visa problems.

In August, he claimed Kenya’s first gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Kenyan to win gold in the 100-meter race in 60 years.
