Charles Olivera is eligible to fight in the UFC lightweight championship but he won’t be able to take the title home with him if he wins. After missing weight ahead of his fight with Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, Charles Oliveira was stripped of his lightweight world title.

The fight will go on, but Olivera’s weight issue means the lightweight title is now vacant.
Oliveira has a history of missing weights, but he hasn’t had any since returning to the lightweight division in 2017. The Brazilian is on a ten-fight winning streak in the UFC and won the lightweight title last year against Michael Chandler.

Following that, Oliveira defeated Conor McGregor’s opponent, Dustin Poirier, at UFC 269 in December. Oliveira also holds the UFC record for the most submissions (15) and finishes (18).
On Saturday, May 7, UFC 274 will take place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson and Donald Cerrone vs. Joe Lauzon are two other notable fights on the card.
