According to a statement from the California Department of Prisons and Rehabilitation, Suede, born Jaime Brugada Valdez, 22, of Huntington Park, was discovered in the shower area of the Correctional Training Center in Soledad soon before 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
Suede was sent there after being sentenced in Riverside County last December to serve two years and eight months on two charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a gun, according to state corrections officials.
He passed away at a prison medical facility in spite of attempts to save his life.
The organization said his death was being looked into as a homicide but did not go into depth about his injuries.
According to Nicholas Rosenberg, Suede’s attorney, “They indicated it was a stabbing to the neck.”
