Mathew Tkachuk an American professional ice hockey winger and alternate captain for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL) is the son of United States Hockey Hall of Famer Keith Tkachuk.

Mathew Tkachuk was born on December 11, 1997, in Scottsdale, Arizona, the U.S. to Keith Tkachuk and Chantal Oster during his father’s time with the Coyotes, and grew up in Chesterfield, Missouri, after his father was traded to the St. Louis Blues in 2001.

Keith had an 18-year NHL career with the Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues, and Atlanta Thrashers before retiring in 2010.

He is one of five American-born players to reach 500 goals and the sixth to reach 1,000 points. He is regarded as one of the greatest American-born players in NHL history.

Keith Tkachuk announced his retirement from hockey at the end of the 2009-10 season.
Keith currently works as an investor in sports talk radio station KFNS (590 AM in St. Louis, MO) and as an assistant coach for the St. Louis Blues Peewee AAA hockey team.
