Maluma was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia. He is a Catholic, but he has also expressed an appreciation for aspects of other religions. His spiritual beliefs seem to be open-minded and inclusive.

Before becoming a renowned singer, Maluma had a passion for soccer. He played the sport for ten years and was part of one of the most important teams in Colombia.

However, his musical journey took a significant turn when he stepped into the recording studio for the first time and recorded his debut song. The experience was so amazing that he decided to quit soccer and pursue his own career in music.

Maluma began his musical career in 2010, recording singles. In 2012, Maluma released his first studio album, titled Magia. Maluma was also nominated for a 2012 Shock Award as “Best New Artist”.
Maluma has won a Latin Grammy Award, an MTV Video Music Award, two Latin American Music Awards, and has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.
Maluma is one of the best-selling Latin music artists and has sold more than 18 million records (albums and singles). He has worked with other international artists, such as Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, J Balvin, and The Weeknd.
The second single from Maluma’s fifth studio album Papi Juancho, “Hawái”, became a commercial success reaching number one in multiple countries and topping the Hot Latin Songs chart for nine consecutive weeks. It became his second number-one hit on the chart.
