Luis Guzmán is a Puerto Rican actor. Guzmán was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Greenwich Village and the surrounding Lower East Side neighbourhood of New York City.

Despite being Hispanic, Luis Guzman is fluent in over 70 languages but does not speak Spanish.

Luis Guzmán began performing in street theatre and independent films while working as a social worker.

He rose to prominence on television with a recurring role on the HBO prison drama Oz, as well as appearances on Law and Order, NYPD Blue, and Walker, Texas Ranger.

Luis Guzmán was nominated for an Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2002 for his role in another Paul Thomas Anderson film, “Punch Drunk Love,” in which he co-starred with Adam Sandler.

Luis Guzmán has appeared as a commentator on VH1’s “I Love the ’80s,” “I Love Toys,” and its sequels “I Love the ’70s” and “I Love the ’90s.” He co-starred in the cancelled HBO series “John from Cincinnati” in 2007.
