Kumara’s cricketing journey began at the young age of 19, but his rise was swift and emphatic.

His ability to consistently bowl at speeds exceeding 140+kmp/h made him a hot prospect for the Sri Lanka national cricket team.

However, it was his performances in the Under-19 team that truly marked him as a future pace spearhead.
What sets Kumara apart is his unorthodox bowling style. The combination of left-handedness and right-arm pace bowling adds a layer of surprise and unpredictability to his deliveries.
Before earning international recognition, Kumara plied his trade for several notable teams in the domestic circuit, including the Nondescripts, the Dambulla Viiking, and the Kandy Warriors.
Kumara made his Test debut for Sri Lanka in 2016, facing Zimbabwe, marking the beginning of a promising international career. He had formerly represented Sri Lanka in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
In 2021, Kumara’s journey continued as he was named one of the reserve players in Sri Lanka’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
