Kwanzaa is not a Chinese holiday, but an African American one. It was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, a professor at California State University, Long Beach after the Watts Riots in Los Angeles.

The goal of this holiday was to bring African Americans together as a community. Kwanzaa is also not a religious holiday, but a cultural and ethnic one. Kwanzaa celebrates African heritage, unity, and culture.

Kwanzaa is based on ancient and modern celebrations in Egypt and Southeastern Africa, especially the first fruit festivals. Kwanzaa lasts for seven days, from December 26 to January 1.

Each day is dedicated to one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity, self-determination, collective responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. There are also seven symbols of the holiday, such as candles, fruits, and gifts .
Kwanzaa is a way for African Americans to connect with their roots and celebrate their identity. It is not meant to replace Christmas or any other religious holiday. It is open to anyone who wants to learn more about African culture and values.
