Johnny Damon had a successful and memorable career, with notable achievements that include two World Series championships (2004 with the Boston Red Sox and 2009 with the New York Yankees), two All-Star selections, and over 2,700 hits in the Major Leagues.

However, despite his accomplishments, Damon faced tough competition and was not elected to the Hall of Fame during his years of eligibility. Johnny Damon considers himself a future Hall of Famer. Speaking to Tyler Kepner of the New York Times, Damon claimed his statistics merit election to the Hall.

“I think even if you look at my numbers now, how high I am on the runs list, how high I am on the doubles list, and you also have to take into account the ballparks that I’ve played in. I’ve played in some pretty tough ones for left-handers.”
Damon has batted .285/.353/.434, averaging 15 home runs and 75 RBIs over a 162-game season. But according to Harold Friend of the Bleacher Report, those are hardly Hall of Fame numbers.
