Is Jason Momoa doing Aquaman 2?

The sequel to “Aquaman” follows Jason Momoa’s title character as he teams up with an unlikely friend to defend Atlantis.  The plot is being kept under wraps, but Aquaman is expected to confront some formidable opponents like Black Manta who resents him for his father’s death or Orm who is enraged that Arthur prevented him from becoming Ocean Master.

Returning cast members include Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Randall Park, and Dolph Lundgren.

The sequel’s tone, according to director James Wan, who also directed the first picture, is darker than the 2018 original. During a panel discussion in August 2020, the Conjuring director said, “The second one is a little bit more serious, a little more relevant to the society we’re living in now.”
