Pros of living in Busan:

• Affordable, reliable public transport. Busan has six metro lines, various bus routes, and cheap taxis that can take you anywhere in the city. It is also well connected to the rest of Korea by intercity buses and trains, including the KTX bullet train to Seoul.
• Warmer winter weather. Busan is located on the coast and has a milder climate than other parts of Korea. The temperatures rarely drop below freezing, and snow is uncommon.
• Lots of fun stuff to do. Busan is a vibrant city with a lot of cultural, historical, and natural attractions. You can enjoy the beaches, mountains, temples, markets, festivals, museums, and nightlife. There is something for everyone in Busan.
• Spacious and not crowded. Compared to Seoul, Busan is less densely populated and has more open spaces. You can find more greenery, parks, and trails in Busan. The city also has less traffic and pollution than Seoul.
• High quality of education and healthcare. Busan has many reputable schools, universities, and hospitals that offer high standards of education and medical care. Expats can also find some international schools and clinics that cater to their needs.

Cons of living in Busan:

• Limited international travel options. Busan’s Gimhae Airport offers some flights to East Asia and Europe, but they are often more expensive or less frequent than those from Seoul. Expats may have to travel to Seoul first to catch a flight to their desired destination.
• Extreme weather in summer. Busan’s summers are hot, humid, and rainy. The city experiences monsoon season from June to September, which brings heavy rainfall and sometimes typhoons. The humidity can make it uncomfortable to be outdoors.
• Western food can be expensive. Busan has a variety of restaurants for Korean food at cheap prices, but finding western food can be more difficult and costly.
