No, Iraq is not a part of NATO. Iraq is not a member of NATO, nor has it ever been invited to join the alliance. However, NATO has established a non-combat advisory and capacity-building mission in Iraq called NATO Mission Iraq (NMI).

The mission was launched in July 2018 and aims to strengthen Iraqi security institutions and forces so that they are able to prevent the return of ISIS, fight terrorism, and stabilize their country.

The mission involves several hundred personnel from Allied and partner countries, including Australia and Invitee Sweden. NATO plays a significant role in international security and cooperation. The organization’s headquarters are located in Brussels, Belgium.

NATO’s organizational structure consists of civilian and military bodies, with the North Atlantic Council (NAC) serving as the principal political decision-making body. The Military Committee advises the NAC on military matters, and the International Staff provides support and expertise.

Allied Command Operations (ACO) and Allied Command Transformation (ACT) are the two strategic military commands responsible for planning and executing NATO’s military operations and maintaining the alliance’s military capabilities.
