Gustav Lindström is a Swedish ice hockey defenceman for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Gustav Lindstrom’s rise to the NHL has sparked the interest of hockey fans, prompting speculations as to whether he is related to famed defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom.
Nicklas Lidstrom, widely regarded as one of the finest defensemen in NHL history, captained the Red Wings in the latter stages of his career, which lasted from 1991 to 2012.
The similarity in their surnames and Swedish origins have fueled speculation of a possible familial relationship between the two. However, there is no evidence that Gustav Lindstrom and Nicklas Lidstrom are related through blood.

Lindström was selected 38th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2017 NHL Entry draft. Gustav Lindström signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Red Wings on May 25, 2018.
He was recalled by the Detroit Red Wings on February 5, 2020. He had five assists in 45 games for the Grand Rapids Gryphons before being recalled. The next day, he made his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres.
Gustav Lindström signed a one-year contract extension with the Red Wings on July 1, 2023. Lindström was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Jeff Petry on August 15, 2023.
