Is Graham Thorpe South African?

Graham Thorpe is not South African. Thorpe was born and raised in Farnham, Surrey, England. Graham Paul Thorpe, MBE is a former English cricketer who represented both England and Surrey at the domestic level. He played 100 Test matches as a left-handed middle-order batsman and slip fielder.

Thorpe first played for Surrey in 1988. In the second innings of his debut Test match against Australia at Trent Bridge, he scored a century (114 not out). In 1998, Thorpe was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year.

In his century against Pakistan in Lahore in November 2000, Thorpe only hit one four. There were also seven threes, 12 twos, and 51 singles in the mix. Before being dismissed for 118 from 301 balls, he hit another boundary.

On June 17, 2006, Thorpe was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). During India’s 2007 tour of England, he made his debut as a summariser for BBC Radio’s Test Match Special programme. He also appeared on Sky Sports’ highlights coverage of the same series as a match summariser.
