With a professional career that spans two decades, one person has been by the South African’s side the entire time: his wife, Nel-Mare.
Louis and Nel-Marie met as children in South Africa, where they both grew up. In 2010, Almari Alberts, Nel-sister-in-law, Mare’s told the Sunday Times, “Louis and Nel-parents Mare’s were family friends, and they visited one other often.” “So the two of them knew one other from a young age.” Louis was always fascinated by her.”

The pair married in 2007 at NG Church in Mossel Bay, Louis’s hometown, and they have three children together: Jana, Sophia, and Emma. Jana, Sophia, and Emma were born in 2009, 2012, and 2013.
Nel-Mare’s name is a combination of a traditional Dutch surname and her maiden name – Nel is a shortened version of Cornelia
