About Djimon Hounsou
Djimon Hounsou began his career by appearing in music videos and modelling for fashion brands, such that he eventually got a contract to model for Calvin Klein underwear.
The Dahomey native made his acting debut in the 1990 film Without You I’m Nothing, after appearing in several music videos.

Djimon became famous after he played Cinqué in the Steven Spielberg film Amistadin 1997, and later Juba in the epic historical film Gladiator in 2000.

Since then, he has starred in many films including “In America, Blood Diamond, Furious 7, Forces spéciales, Constantine, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, What If…?, Aquaman (2018), Shazam!, Black Adam, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.”
In the 2019 film Shazam!, Djimon was cast as Wizard Shazam. In 2022, he reprised his role in Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023).
Djimon has received many awards and nominations including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. He is “the fourth African male to ever be nominated for an Oscar.”
