American professional ice hockey goaltender, Craig Anderson has announced his retirement after 20 years in the sport. He made this announcement on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

With teary eyes, he shared a heartfelt message as he announces his exit from a well-decorated professional career.
“This is it,” he said. “I think I left it all out there. At the end of the day, I did everything I possibly could to make sure that I was competitive and gave the team a chance to win. You’ve got to be honest with yourself. And that’s just the way this game goes Father Time always catches up with you.”

He shared that he would not be suiting up for the season’s finale at Columbus.
Did Craig Anderson take a break from his career?
Craig Anderson took a two-month leave after his wife, Nicholle was diagnosed with cancer in 2016.
“I wanted to stay with her. It was the unknown. We didn’t know what extent of anything was. If the cancer was life-threatening and she had three months to live, I would have felt horrible going back. It kind of worked out. We didn’t know. She insisted that I go back, that my hockey family needed me. We were with her family in Pennsylvania. She has her family. She had some support, which was huge, and allowed me to go back,” Craig said.
