The main difference may be the downs they’re used on – Hubbard is better in the passing game – a huge strength of McCaffrey’s – so may pick up more downs there while Foreman racks up his carries.
Hubbard being the backup is important for fantasy managers drafting with the first and second picks in their draft. Hubbard likely won’t have much value in season-long leagues with 10 or 12 teams, but if McCaffrey’s snap count is reduced then Hubbard certainly could launch into the flex-worthy territory.
If McCaffrey sustains an injury this season Hubbard would immediately catapult into RB2 territory with RB1 upside, making him a valuable handcuff for McCaffrey stakeholders.
