Chris Bassitt had to get 15-16 stitches at a Chicago hospital after the line drive resulted in certain lacerations to his face.

On March 12, 2022, the Oakland Athletics traded Chris Bassitt to the New York Mets in exchange for J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller.

The Chicago White Sox selected Chris Bassitt in the 16th round of the 2011 MLB draft, with the 501st overall selection.

In 2013, Chris Bassitt started the season with the Winston-Salem Dash of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League, where he was named an all-star.
