Börje Salming is a former Swedish professional ice hockey defenseman. Borje Salming was the first Swedish hockey player to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996.

Börje Salming was a member of the Kiruna AIF, Brynäs IF, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, and AIK.
Salming was one of the first European players to make an impact in the NHL, paving the way for future generations of players.
Börje Salming is best known for his many seasons with the Maple Leafs, during which he set numerous franchise records, including the most assists.

Salming also contributed significantly to Sweden’s international success. He was named to the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Centennial All-Star team as a result of this.
He was named Team MVP at the 1976 Canada Cup and was selected five times to the NHL’s Second All-Star Team. Salming was named one of the “100 Greatest NHL Players of All Time” in 2017.
Börje Salming was ranked 74th on The Hockey News’ list of the 100 Greatest National Hockey League Players in 1998, the only Swedish player on the list.
