ABC political commentator, Barrie Cassidy, is married to Heather Ewart, who is also a journalist working for the ABC.

Ewart is well known as the presenter of the ABC TV show, Back Roads.
Ewart and Barrie got married in the mid 1990s after Barrie moved to Washington DC.
The couple have two daughters together.
Heather Ewart Early Life
Ewart, grew up in country Victoria, and launched her media career as a columnist for The Canberra Times.
Ewart has served as a National Affairs Correspondent for 7.30, focusing on coverage of federal issues, including politics, both on ABC TV and on radio.
For many years, she worked as a foreign correspondent in London, Washington, and Brussels.
She is a winner of the Golden Quill award.

Ewart has also been involved in a few TV productions, some of which include Angry Boys (2011), Back Roads (2015) and A Country Road: The Nationals (2014).

About Heather Ewart’s TV Show – Back Roads
Ewart’s famous TV programme, Back Roads, takes us through the regional towns of Australia and into the magnificent countryside in the state.
The documentary series began on the ABC in 2015 and sees Ewart touring remote towns, villages and the local communities.
The show is executive-produced by Brigid Donovan and Kerri Ritchie, and the theme song for the programme is sung by Australian musician, Rebecca Barnard.
