Is ASTRO band disbanded? Did a member leave ASTRO?

ASTRO band is a South Korean boy band formed by Fantagio music label. It was originally made up of six members; MJ, Jinjin, Cha Eun-woo, Yoon San-ha, Rocky, and Moobin.

Did a member leave ASTRO?

Rocky who was the main dancer left the group on February 28, 2023. He left after his contract with Fantagio expired. MJ is also in the South Korean military at the moment and is yet to announce if he might leave the group or not.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2023, Moonbin was announced dead. According to the police, his cause of death might have been a result of suicide.

ASTRO came up through the rookie talent development program dubbed iTeen Boys which was created by the group’s Fantagio. The final member line-up and group name were announced in August 2015.

The group also starred in a web drama series titled To Be Continued that same month. This was their entrance to the limelight. They also appeared in their own reality TV show dubbed Astro OK! Ready which aired on January 21, 2016, and ended on February 18, 2016.

They released their debut EP, Spring Up on February 23, 2016, on it was the hit song, Hide & Seek. The EP reached No. 6 on the Billboard World Albums Chart in the United States and No. on the Gaon Music Chart.

In February 2017, they released their album, Winter Dream which had the lead single, Again. It debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. They signed a distribution contract with Avex Taiwan to handle the group’s music distribution in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.

ASTRO also announced their first group world tour – ASTROAD – on July 15, 2017. The show began in Seoul at Seoul Olympic Hall and later in Osaka and Tokyo. They released their first studio album on January 16, 2019, titled All Light. 

In May 2020, they released their seventh EP, Gateway. Moonbin & Sanha formed the first sub-unit and released an EP titled In-Out. In 2022, the group released its second studio album, All Yours.
