Amal Clooney went to New York University School of Law to study for the Master of Laws (LL.M) degree and received the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for excellence in entertainment law.

Amal Clooney was admitted to the bar in New York in 2002 and called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2010. As a barrister, Clooney practiced at international courts in The Hague, including the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.

Amal Clooney worked at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City for three years as part of the Criminal Defense and Investigations Group.

In 2010, Amal Clooney was called to the Bar of England & Wales, Inner Temple. She is a practicing barrister at Doughty Street Chambers.
