Why is Alexander Soros taking over his father’s empire?
George Soros has shared that despite having three other elderly children who come before Alexander, he will be handing over his empire – the Open Society Foundation – to him because he (Alex) has earned his trust. However, his initial thought was not to hand over his foundation to any of his children.

“I didn’t want the foundation to be taken over by one of my children, as a matter of principle. I thought it should be managed by someone who is best suited,” George said.
“I believe that in philanthropy one should do the right thing, whether or not it succeeds,” he added.
