Who Is Alex Morgan?

Alex Morgan is a soccer player who plays as a striker and doubles as a team captain for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Born on July 2, 1989, in San Dimas, California, United States, Morgan attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she played soccer with the California Golden Bears.

In 2011, she was drafted as first overall pick by the Western New York Flash in the WPS Draft.

Morgan helped the Flash win the league championship, and was the youngest player on the national team at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Morgan participated in the 2012 London Olympics, where she scored the match-winning goal. She had completed the season with 28 goals and 21 assists.

Morgan won the award of “U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year in 2012, and in the years 2015 and 2019, she represented the United States at the FIFA Women’s World Cups, winning titles for the team plus the Silver Boot.

Other teams Morgan has played for include the Portland Thorns FC, Orlando Pride, Lyon, Tottenham Hotspur, and the Seattle Sounders Women.

As of 2015, Morgan was already listed amongst the top-paid American women’s soccer players by Time Magazine.

She has bagged several endorsement deals including appearing on the cover of FIFA video games.

Morgan has been named “one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People” on two occasions.
