Iranian- American environmentalist, Morad Tahbaz, has been released from a Tehran prison on bail.

The 66-year old was said to have been released with an electronic bracelet and will be joining his family in the Iran capital.
“The Tahbaz family have confirmed Morad has been released from Evin prison on furlough and is at their home in Tehran”, a statement from the foreign affairs office read.
“Morad is a tri-national and we continue to work closely with the United States to urge the Iranian authorities to permanently release him and allow his departure from Iran.”
Tahbaz had been arrested in 2018 and sentenced to 10 years inprison, for allegedly working as a spy for the Unoted States government.

He had earlier been released in March 2022 but was returned back to prison after two days.
His final release follows the proposal of EU’s foreign policy to restore the 2015 Iran nuclear deal which Donald Trump stopped while he was US president.
Tahbaz was born in London and holds British citizenship.
He is a co-owner of the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation (PWHF).
