The Ministry of Interior, acting upon the recommendation of the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC), has implemented a curfew in Sampa Township, a border town situated between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region.

Effective Thursday, April 18, 2024, the curfew will be enforced from 1600 hours to 0700 hours.
In a statement issued by Henry Quartey, the Sector Minister, it was revealed that the curfew was imposed due to ongoing chieftaincy disputes in the area.
The government has called upon chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of the region to maintain calm amidst the challenges they are facing.
They are urged to utilize peaceful means to address their grievances and work towards restoring peace in the community.

Additionally, there is a complete prohibition on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons by individuals within Sampa township.
The statement cautioned that any person found in possession of such items would face arrest and subsequent prosecution.
The measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of residents amidst the chieftaincy crisis, with a focus on preventing any escalation of violence in the area.
