Renowned Ghanaian dancer and choreographer, Amofa Michael, professionally known as Incredible Zigi, has urged for the introduction of dedicated categories in the Ghana Music Awards to celebrate dancers.

During an interview on The Afternoon Show on TV3, Zigi emphasized that it’s about time dancers receive recognition in Ghana, just like musicians do on prestigious platforms such as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
According to him, dancers make significant contributions to the success of many hit songs in Ghana, primarily through their creation of dance challenges associated with the songs.

He mentioned that the nominations would greatly encourage and inspire young individuals with dancing talents who aspire to turn it into a profession.
“We all know dancing and music goes hand-in-hand the only gap is that music is getting a wider recognition than dance and that is why we are always fighting to get at least a nomination at TGMA.
“It will help and inspire us and let all the young dancers coming up know that dance can actually take them far. I’m pleading with Telecel Ghana Music Awards on behalf of all Ghanaian dance creatives who are pushing hard, we need a recognition too so please the nominations,” Zigi said.
